The role of the Bank of Japan, the central bank of Japan, is to issue currency and to carry out currency control. The bank’s Neo-baroque building designed by Kingo Tatsuno has been designated as an Important Cultural Property. Guided tours are available, but reservations must be made in advance.

Application method:
Reservations can be made by telephone from 3 months to 1 week prior to the desired visit date.
Application hours:
Monday – Friday 09:30 – 17:00 (excluding national holidays prescribed in the Act on National Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holiday season (December 29 - January 4)
