The whole complex glows with Christmas cheer. Visitors are greeted by the colorfully illuminated Welcome Tree and a spot for taking photos with Santa Claus, among other features. Christmas events are also held at Sunshine Aquarium and Sunshine 60 Observatory.

Hikari Garden has just appeared around the base of the Skytree--a kaleidoscopic display of flowers and ornaments with a flowery Christmas tree 8 meters tall at its center. This annaul projection mapping project uses the Skytree tower to light-paint on, for a spectacular show that will stay with you.

With a design recalling outer space, Starlight Garden will feature about 100 glowing balloons for the first time in addition to its approximately 190,000 LED bulbs. The Soap Bubble Illumination ending on December 16 (Sun.) makes it even more enchanting with about 450,000 bubbles blown per day.

Taking "Japanese-style" as its theme, Tokyo Dome City will sparkle with illuminated displays featuring Edo cut glass, origami, Japanese-style umbrellas, and other motifs. The Tairin no Hana Ike ("Great Flower Circle Lake") installation is 100 meters long. Visitors flock to see it for its illumination "fireworks" that "explode" with the flick of a switch.

"Be Connected!" is the concept and flowers are the theme for the Terrace City Illumination, covering the whole area from the West to the South Gate of Shinjuku Station. The gimmicks here and there using the Fairy of Flowers look different during the day and nighttime.

The displays stretch for 2.2 kilometers up and back along the Meguro River, and consist of about 400,000 twinkling bulbs. The electricity for the illumination was generated by fuel made by recycling waste oil from local homes and restaurants, making it a keynote project for energy produced by the whole community.
