Rikugien Gardens

Beautiful traditional Japanese gardens co-starring magnificently with autumnal leaves

Created during the Edo period, this representative daimyo's garden features a landscape garden comprising hills and a pond brightly colored with the autumnal hues of approx. 560 Japanese maples, Ginkgo biloba, Japanese wax, and various other trees. Why not visit the Tsutsuji no Chaya teahouse, surrounded in crimson maple leaves, or go and view the superb scenery from the Deshio-no-minato shore of the pond? The limited-time-only garden illumination is also magnificent to see.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Take a leisurely stroll through sunny gardens and enjoy the autumn colors

Boasting one of the largest areas of any garden park in central Tokyo, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden has more than 10,000 luxuriant trees growing throughout. From flowering dogwood to maple, a diversity of deciduous trees maintain their gloriously hued autumnal colors for a substantial amount of time. Why not leisurely enjoy the beautiful autumnal foliage of Avenue of Sycamore Trees and Japanese Traditional Garden, while savoring a refreshing bowl of tea in the teahouse or resting on the lawns or park benches?

Ikedayama Park

The beauty of richly multi-leveled Japanese-style gardens ablaze with autumnal leaves

Making the most of its undulating topography, this traditional Japanese strolling garden is landscaped to provide glimpses of the pond from the top of the hill. Leisurely take in the view from the hilltop pavilion or enjoy the charming view of waterfalls cascading over bare rock or the stone bridge crossing the pond in the lower-ground strolling area.
*Some park toilet facilities are closed until the end of March 2020 due to construction work.

Toneri Park

Dawn redwood avenue seeped in brick-red

A leisure space where visitors can enjoy a diversity of nature in vast grounds, despite being in Tokyo. As you exit Toneri-koen Station, you can immediately immerse yourself in autumn-hued scenery. Stretching from the park entrance to the fountain inside, the dawn redwood avenue is beautifully colored in rich red hues. Around Oike, Ginkgo biloba leaves are a glorious yellow, while cherry and zelkova trees ablaze with autumn colors can be seen throughout the park.

Hama-rikyu Gardens

Relax and enjoy autumnal foliage in the vast garden

Boasting an area about 5.5 times that of Tokyo Dome, these traditional Japanese gardens once belonged to a Tokugawa Shogun's family. Despite being surrounded by towering central-city buildings, the gardens are vast. In autumn, the foliage of Japanese wax, Japanese maple, trident maple, Ginkgo biloba, and various other trees turn vibrant colors, the autumn scenery reflected in the pond's surface. How about enjoying autumn scenery at a leisurely pace in sprawling gardens?

Nanushinotaki Park

Profound beauty and autumnal foliage

This park features four waterfalls: Odaki, a rare sight in Tokyo with its eight-meter drop; Medaki, Dokko-no-Taki, and Yuugyoku-no-Taki. The park is brightly colored by the foliage of some 100 Japanese maple trees that have been planted on slopes. Here, in at the location of the last of the Seven Falls of Oji currently in existence, you can experience a profound beauty.
*Currently only Odaki has flowing water.
