Established in 1951, Ume-no-Yu was fully renovated in 2016. The bathhouse boasts six different types of public baths as well as saunas, and a full range of (paid) amenities are also available. Ume-no-Yu is a new style of public bathhouse, not only providing bathing products and goods for sale but also holding events and operating a yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) restaurant, Umekyo, on the premises.

This bathhouse prides itself on its Higashi-no-Yu and Nishi-no-Yu baths, which alternate weekly between men and women. Heated using the bathhouse’s original method, the hot water is renowned for feeling soft and gentle on the skin, not tingly. Also watch out for the cute attendant booth cat—encountering this kitty is lucky!
