Elegant scenery dating from the Edo Period

Hama-rikyu Garden

Designated as a Special Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty, Hama-rikyu Gardens were formerly the gardens of the Tokugawa Shogun’s family and feature a tidal pond that draws seawater from Tokyo Bay as well as two duck hunting reserves. The collaboration of brightly colored autumnal leaves—which are best viewed from early November—and the four faithfully recreated teahouses is particularly stunning.
